This is a commemorative poster for the Grand Exposition held in honor of the Imperial Coronation. It was created to celebrate the enthronement of Emperor Showa. This poster won first prize in a public competition held by Kyoto city to select the official design for the event.
At the center of the composition stands a group of towering pavilions, symbolic of progress and modernity, with rays of light dramatically extending to the sky, which gives a sense of optimism. The vivid warm colors create a festive and ceremonial atmosphere of the exposition.
